Site 238 would be my favourite site at Charlestone Lake Park if it was not constantly overbooked throughout the season.
It is easily accessible from the public access road, but is not of the drive-through type. Since the road is a one-way only, from the right to the left as seen on the photo, the privacy is not too bad.
The site is fairly spacious cleared space with the entrance on one end. This is the view from the back of the site towards the entrance.
The site features a fire pit...
... a picnic table and an electrical post...
...as well as a path through the brash right from behind the fire pit.
The path leads you right to the lakeshore. This part of the lake is not good for swimming, especially considering that the lake has been contaminated by zebra mussels (2015 experience). But it is great for canoe/kayak launch and for keeping your vessel ashore. The beach is in short walking distance along the road by the way.
Look back from the path over towards the site.
And this might be the view right from your site. Depending on the season you may be able to see young goslings or adult families setting to move southwards.
